(BAR Specified Diagnosis and Repair Training Course)
Our 72 hour program is designed around the State of California, Bureau of Automotive Repair standards required to be eligible to take to State Smog Check Repair Technician licensing exam. Course may be repeated at no additional charge if required.
Course Description
BAR Specified Diagnostic and Repair Training is intended to provide students a high level of competency in the diagnosis and repair of Smog Check failures. This training focuses on the areas of electrical/electronic systems and engine and emission control performance. Students with at least two years of engine performance repair experience and who successfully complete this training may qualify for the state licensing examination for the Smog Check Repair Technician License.
Course completion satisfies BAR criteria for 12 hours of continuing education credit. Our 12 hour program is designed around the State of California, BAR standards required to renew State Smog Check Repair Technician license . Course may be repeated at no additional charge if required.
Course Description
This course is intended to instruct BAR certified repair technician the history and development of gasoline direct injection engine management control technology currently in production and in use on the wide range of vehicles subject to the California Smog Check inspection program. Topics covered are basic direct injection engine history, basic direct injection function, hazards to the public and technicians, common rail fuel injection systems , Stratified Charge theory and operation, Homogeneous Charge theory and operation , VVT and Electronic Throttle controls roll in SIDI engine management and basic PCM control strategies.
