Program cost for Level 1 $1199
Our 68 hour program is designed around the State of California, Bureau of Automotive Repair standards required to be eligible to take to State Smog Check Inspector licensing exam. Course may be repeated at no additional charge if required.
TRAINING DESCRIPTION
BAR Level 1 Engine and Emission Control Fundamentals Training is intended to provide students with fundamental knowledge of engine and emission control theory, design and operation. Students who successfully complete this training at a BAR-certified school will have met the first step of the Bureau of Automotive Repair’s training requirements for less experienced candidates for the Smog Check Inspector license.
TRAINING PREREQUISITE: None
Candidates for the Smog Check Inspector license who do not meet BAR specified requirements must complete this training as well as Level 2 Inspection Procedures Training. Candidates who meet the BAR specified requirements are not required to complete this training.
BAR specified requirements: ASE A6, A8 and L1; or AA/AS Certificate in automotive technology and 1 year experience; or 2 years experience and BAR specified diagnostic and repair equivalency training.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION
BAR Level 2 Inspector Training is intended to provide students a high level of competency in the inspections of vehicles for the purpose of California Smog Check Inspection. This training focuses on the areas California Smog Check Inspection and Repair Rules, Regulations and Procedures. Students who successfully complete this training will satisfy the Level 2 Inspector training requirement for applicants to the state licensing examination for the Smog Check Inspector License.
